​Roman heritage: The Roman theatre in Málaga (Teatro Romano de Málaga) is one of the city's most important historical landmarks. Today it has been restored and can be visited, along with a modern visitor centre that provides insights into the Roman history of Málaga.

​Ancient theatre

​The Roman theatre in Malaga has a rich history dating back to ancient times. It is a fascinating relic of times gone by.

​The Roman theatre is located at the entrance to the Alcazaba and dates back to the time of Augustus (1st century). It was discovered by chance in 1951. It was in use until the 3rd century and was then used as a quarry for materials to redesign the Alcazaba.

​The theatre is now used again as a performance venue. It is open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10:00-14:30 /16:00-19:00 (November-March) and from 17:00-20:00 (April-October), Sundays
from 10:00-14:30.
