Alcazaba and Castillo de Gibralfaro

The Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro are two important fortresses in Malaga that reflect the city's rich history and heritage, and there are 2 very well preserved castles in the centre of Malaga. The Alcazaba, which dates back to the Moorish period, and the Castillo de Gibralfaro, which was also built during the Moorish period and extended after the Spanish reconquest.

Alcazaba

The Alcazaba Royal Palace, whose construction began in the 11th century, is the most important building from the Moorish period and today houses the Archaeological Museum with numerous interesting exhibits. Sunday is admission free. The view of Malaga and the harbour is incredibly beautiful. A tunnel leads to the lift that takes you to the Alcazaba.
