Bars and restaurants of Malaga

One of the special features of Malaga is the sheer number of tapas bars / restaurants / cafes / bars in the centre (over 1000!). Life in the bars usually starts at 21:00. Before that, it's easier to find places to sit. It's fun to wander from bar to bar and have a snack (tapas) wherever you go. Here you get to know the Andalusian soul. A must for every visitor to Malaga. In the last few years, a lot of " roof top bars " have sprung up. From these you often have a special view of the old town of Malaga, the harbour or the castles. It is difficult to give tips here. You can find a compilation on the rating portal here:

LO GÜENO

Our regular tapas bar " Lo Güeno " is the tapas bar with the largest selection of tapas in our experience and has been located near Calle Larios since 1967. The atmosphere is great. There is also a large selection of Malaga wines. We have been coming here regularly since 1998. Our tip: take a seat at the small bar (original from 1967) and ask there for the daily specials that are not on the menu.
Recently, another branch was opened near the cathedral. It specialises in meat and is called " Lo Güeno de Strachan ".

ANTIGUA CASA DE GUARDIA

The bodega and bar " ANTIGUA CASA DE GUARDIA " is an institution in Malaga. Here you can only find wines from Malaga. You should enjoy the atmosphere here, because you can only find it here. In the bodega, founded in 1840, you can only drink Malaga wine. The interior is over 100 years old. The prices are very reasonable (less than 3€). There is no food (except for a few tapas) and the bar is very popular with locals.

EL PIMPI

EL PIMPI is a bar with a special atmosphere and many famous visitors (Tony Blair, Antonio Banderas (co-owner), John Markovic, the Picasso family, etc.). El Pimpi is located close to the Picasso Museum. The bar consists of several nested rooms and a large outdoor area next to the Roman theatre.
The food is rather touristy and no different from other restaurants. But the atmosphere is something special.

Next door is the "sister" restaurant " La Sole del Pimpi " with an exclusive cuisine.

Location:
Calle Granada, 62
29015 Malaga

Opening hours:
daily: 12:00-01:00
