Malaga adorns itself at Christmas with a sea of lights. For some years, switching on the Christmas illumination has become an event. Especially the lighting of Calle Larios is redesigned every year. At Paeso Maritimo there are many
small stalls selling Christmas and non-Christmas items. In addition, you can visit Christian Nativities (in Spanish Benen) in many places. There is always a big parade around the 6th of January. This one reminds a bit of Disneyland,
although it has nothing to do with it.
An old tradition is to make elaborate nativities (Benen) for Christmas and to show the public. The historic town hall houses one of the largest nativity scenes. The Andalusians have a long tradition of building cribs. Below are 2 examples from the Town Hall of Malaga.
