Christmas in Malaga 2025/2026
Málaga wrapped in Christmas magic: lights, music & tradition
During the festive season, Málaga transforms into a dazzling winter wonderland. At the end of November, when the spectacular Calle Larios Christmas lights are switched on for the first time, a magical glow fills the city. The entire old town is festively decorated — from luminous angels above the shopping streets to sparkling trees in the plazas. Málaga shines as one of the most Christmassy cities in Spain.
Thousands of locals and visitors gather excitedly on November 28th at 6:30 pm for the official lighting ceremony. With music and applause, the Christmas season begins — and the historic centre bursts into light.
Light show in the historic centre
The heart of it all is Calle Larios, where the celestial light show enchants visitors three times each evening (6:30 pm, 8:00 pm, 10:00 pm). Under a canopy of angel-shaped lights, the illuminations dance to the rhythm of well-known Christmas melodies.
Tip: the best view is from Plaza de la Constitución. Visit on weekdays (Mon–Wed) or after 10:00 pm to avoid the crowds. The lights remain on until midnight on weekdays and until 2:00 am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Don't miss the Alameda Principal, with its tropical palm decorations, and the City Hall on Paseo del Parque, where this year's new feature is a video projection mapping on the façade — golden stars, ornaments and the Three Kings glide across the historic walls, creating a stunning photo spot.
